At Roots Community Services, our mission has always been to uplift and empower our communities. We are proud to announce our partnership with Elevate Talent to deliver a free 90-day virtual training program to equip individuals from underrepresented communities with the skills and credentials they need to build thriving careers in the technology and innovation sectors. This program is funded by the Government of Canada and powered by Elevate.

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Ability to commit 5 hours a day for 90 business days
  • Access to reliable internet connection and a computer/ laptop with video capabilities
  • Basic English and computer literacy skills

Participants can register for one of the following courses:

  • Digital Marketing - Learn the skills and knowledge to complete entry-level data marketing tasks including identifying personas, mapping the customer journey and creating a digital plan.

  • Graphic Design - Learn the fundamentals of graphic design including typography color and layout. Participants will learn how to use practical tools for graphic design like the Adobe Suite as well as free tools like Canva.

  • Customer Design - Learn about the fundamentals of how to design a product that maximizes the customer’s experience. Students will learn about customer research and prototyping. The course is largely self-guided with a couple of hours per week of live sessions, which makes it a good choice for people who may not be able to attend sessions regularly during weekdays.

  • Virtual Assistant - Learn the fundamentals they need to use digital tools to provide administrative support for companies. It is run in partnership with Virtual Gurus Academy, which will set participants up with an immediate job opportunity as a virtual assistant at the end of the program. With the support of Virtual Gurus, participants will be able to create a profile and get paired with an employer in a field that is of interest to them.
